In the wake of ongoing voter suppression techniques that disproportionately affect Blacks and working class communities, Black Voters Matter co-founder LaTosha Brown says that only a Department of Democracy can provide the oversight needed to ensure voting rights. Only this, she believes, can bring an end to failures her organization witnessed on the ground during recent primaries in Georgia and Kentucky, as well as in states like Texas and Wisconsin: “long lines, poll site closings, and voter ID Laws.”
